THINKWallet

Summary: At TGS, students receive stipend money from the school to purchase their meals and snacks. However, each purchase has to be documented in a "stipend sheet" where students write the date of the purchase, price, restaurant name, what they bought, and all these little details. This process is very time consuming considering that we do it for 6 weeks straight for every meal we get. THINKWallet is an IOS app that I founded which uses machine learning to automate this process. Only by scanning the receipt, the app automatically fills in the stipend sheet by detecting the price, restaurant name, and order from the receipt using machine learning. I was honored to be selected to present this project at Symposium, the biggest school event of the year. As explained in the video, students at our school spend a lot of time documenting their finances, while also having a packed schedule most of the time. My idea is automating this manual process using a machine learning application. The official duration for this project was only 7 weeks, as it was an academic personal project at TGS. However, after "academically" finalizing our personal project, my team and I are continuously working together into bringing this app to life and eventually get a successful integration of the app firstly at our school and other organizations whom are interested in the product as well.

I have always been inspired by Mark Zuckerberg's story of bringing facebook into existence. And in fact, it all started in a dorm room! We have spent 100+ hours learning and working on our product, sometimes even pulling all-nighters because of how much we enjoy working on this project and bouncing off ideas together. Even though I had never worked with IOS app development before, it's not the first thing I have built. I built games on Unity, developed websites with PHP and MySQL, and more!
